One of the best scenarios for any business is having a group of people who believe in the vision, product and services of the company. Any business wants to gain that level of loyal customers who follow and support the business with tear and blood no matter how hard it is. That’s why the community-based business models are gaining momentum as companies aim to intensify their customer engagement activities with relevant and great customer experiences.

The community-based model is nothing new. One of the best examples is the organizations Wikipedia. Today, Wikipedia is the worlds’ largest is a multilingual open-collaborative online encyclopedia created and maintained by a community of volunteer editors. The number of businesses that run on the community-based business model is growing as the customers tend to remain loyal and grow organically.

In Theory, community building is a series activity to gathering a group of people who have a common value or belief. Building a community with the right kind of people for your brand takes time. The following tips will help you to grow your customer base through the community-based business model:

Authenticity

Your vibe attracts your tribe. If the main driver for you to build a community is to make money out of your members then it won’t last. People will smell it. Express genuine openness and happiness when connecting with the people that want to be a part of your brand.

Win-Win

You need to give people incentives to join your community. Why should anyone new come to your community?  You need to develop a purpose-driven incentive that attracts new community members.

Contribution

Let everyone contribute by sharing stories and experience. The circular pattern of Learning > Sharing > Teaching is the ideal lifecycle of the activities of a community member. Exchanging and sharing ideas is the best way to keep existing members connected and grow the community with new members.

Consistency

Consistent updates through the website, blog, live events, webinars. At, Oridoc we always emphasize consistency. The content may be good but if it doesn’t change, members have no reason to come back. The goal is to create genuine posts and share them often.

Quality Content

Quality over quantity – it’s the magic formula when it comes to sharing engaging content. Content must be searchable, snackable, and shareable. The content should be engaging that the community members will share it and will have a reason to come back.

Connecting

Stop doing business and start being human. Think about how to build genuine connections and how they can help each other out in addition to the community-driven business. Continue to add to your network but don’t leave out helping members of your community connect and succeed as well.

Compliments

The community is building is similar to the game “Give, Get or Pass”, where every member has a chance to give a compliment, get a compliment or pass. By giving compliments is a great way to create confidence within the community.
